Leading energy company in Canada realigns organization to achieve success leveraging best practices.
BUSINESS CHALLENGE
For the multinational Energy Company to compete effectively in the fast-growing and highly competitive energy marketplace it was imperative that they significantly lowered their cost structure while continuing to deliver high levels of service and reliability. After an extensive analysis of their requirements they implemented a multi-work stream program of work that included standardization of their technology platforms, optimization of their processes to align with service management best practices and created a service oriented organization.
COVESTIC'S SOLUTION
Microsoft was responsible for the transition to the single technology platform and Covestic partnered with this multinational Energy Company to develop and implement an IT service management (ITSM) organizational framework tailored to the needs of the Energy Company. The framework developed by Covestic was based on industry best practice and leveraged the Microsoft Operations Framework (MOF) and the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL). It covered services, process, organization and enabling technology. It was driven down to job description level and specified the skills sets required to successfully deliver service going forward. Covestic also trained key IT executives on the framework and organizational planning requirements.
RESULTS
The work undertaken by Covestic enabled the IT executive team of the multinational Energy Company to have a clear strategy and proven framework for structuring and staffing their organization as they move forward toward the new technology infrastructure.
